“The Surgeon General Said Nothing About Smokin’ A Chevy!” is a quote under the hood of this 1967 Ford Lightweight Fairlane 500 XL. The 66-67 Fairlanes were quite popular among drag racers as well as stock car drivers, and the Lightweights were given that name because the cars were built lighter with weight saving materials like fiberglass hoods along with huge engines for increased speed. Robert Stoorza owns this one, and under the hood is a 427 cubic inch V-8 teamed up with a 4-speed manual transmission. A podium has a few pictures of the Lightweight Fairlanes drag racing during the ‘60’s, and everything about the car is “period correct” which is a short way of saying everything is the way it was back in 1967.
